U.S. Olympic Committee

The United States Olympic Committee

Background: The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is a federally chartered nonprofit corporation responsible for selecting and supporting U.S. teams for the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, and the Pan American Games.

The USOC has two primary responsibilities in its oversight of Olympic and Paralympic sports in the United States: to generate resources to support U.S. athletes in achieving sustained competitive excellence in international competition; and to ensure that those resources are used wisely and effectively. Non-profit National Governing Bodies (NGBs) are sanctioned by the USOC to manage each of the 47 Olympic and Paralympic sports.
