The USOC has two primary responsibilities in its oversight of Olympic and Paralympic sports in the United States: to generate resources to support U.S. athletes in achieving sustained competitive excellence in international competition; and to ensure that those resources are used wisely and effectively. Non-profit National Governing Bodies (NGBs) are sanctioned by the USOC to manage each of the 47 Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Background: In 2010, a San Antonio based home-builder and philanthropist created a unique, 28 acre theme park specifically designed for those with special needs and disabilities. Background: The Carver Academy, a private Christian school, was founded in 2001 by NBA All-Star and Hall of Fame member David Robinson. A five member Board of Directors is elected by the owners and is responsible for working directly with Marriott International to oversee the operation and management of this $100 million resort property.
Background: The two primary benchmarks of success in the hotel, restaurant and private club industry are customer service ratings and profitability. This is especially critical in the private club industry where members pay a significant initiation fee together with dues of $500 per month for the privilege of having exclusive use of the club and its facilities. Achieving financial success is further challenged by the fact that membership is capped thus restricting the number of customers purchasing goods and services.
